…choosing him feels like choosing me because sometimes I’m not sure where he ends and I begin. I never knew I could be completely my own person and completely someone else’s, but that’s the beautiful dichotomy of being with Maverick.

my entire heart. it comes as no surprise that Kennedy Ryan gave us so much more than “just another love story”. my heart cried for the girls who were told they were less than for choosing a life for themselves outside being a mother. to those women specifically, i cannot recommend this book enough. but the recommendation for this book goes significantly further than just one group because there is something for everyone in the story of Hendrix and that of Mavericks.

as always, seeing the power of friendship; the way friends are weighted and valued by Hens mother and aunt, and how it translated into her own life. not just placid friendship that some of us have become accustomed to, but truly formative and dependable people who inadvertently sacrifice their comfort in your most trying of times because it’s what you need in that moment. that’s when the tears started rolling for me. lol.

Mav quickly because one of my favourite MMCs (ever) because he was exactly to Hendrix who she is to everyone else, and their love story felt safe, tranquil and non turbulent. I thought Kennedy Ryan did a beautiful job at displaying the clear difference between a trauma bond and compassion between them.

ending with @kennedyryan1’s intentionality will never cease to amaze me. beginning the book with Hen and the last chapter being Mav’s was the perfect representation of their dynamic, and that’s why i chose that specific quote as my favourite.

while i’m heartbroken that the Skyland series has concluded, what an honour to have gotten to experience it.
