From the time I opened this book, I felt as if I had stepped into fog-laden secret-filled London, where history is not just read about, but lived, observed, and murmured on every page. Super Nine vs Ghosts of London is not just a ghost story, it is a ghost story bursting with mystery adventure and that small tingling sensation in the spine that makes you turn the page faster than you planned.
We follow nine friends from Pine Ridge Academy, each with their traits and strengths, who find themselves in an adventure that is equal parts exciting and heartwarming. What I loved most is how each character is different , curious, courageous, empathetic, funny yet when they come together, they’re such a powerful team. The power of friendship permeates the story and it’s this that heightens the other’s supernatural experiences.
London is literally a character here. From ancient artifacts and curses, to whisperings in the darkness of the back streets, the setting is atmospheric and beautifully described! It was reminiscent of that mix you find in books like Harry Potter, mystery and history, with a hint of the supernatural. Yes, there were certainly parts that gave me Stranger Things vibes with that “edge of your seat” suspense!
The pacing is fast, the humor is spot on, and the illustrations create a cinematic ambiance throughout the entire experience. The ending? It’s the kind that sticks with you, fulfilling yet vaguely haunting in the best way possible.
It’s not just a story about ghosts, but a story of bravery, loyalty, curiosity, and how simple friendship can help you overcome the darkness of any mystery. A perfect choice for young readers, but honestly? Adults will be just as engrossed.
