Original Book Review
5 Stars
I know 15 year old me would’ve loved this book. Elenor and I had a lot in common as teens, and I think that’s why I loved this book a lot.
I finished it in a day, and honestly, I didn’t want it to end. I decided to switch up my usual thriller and go for something a bit different, and I’m glad I did.
I was so engrossed in the book that I forgot Eleanor and Park weren’t real people and this wasn’t a true story about how they met and fell in love; it was raw, real and even at times heartbreaking.
The book is set in the 1980s, so it was really cool to read about a time when you had to call your friends on a landline and you’d chat for hours about everything and nothing, making mixtapes/CDs, and having to use batteries (that always ran out too soon) to listen to your music. It brought back a lot of nostalgia for me as a kid growing up in the 90s.
“He made her feel like more than the sum of her parts.”
