If i had to pick one person to be in my corner, it’d be you. every time.
it’s so hard to put into words how much i love this book but i will attempt it because this book….SO GOOD!!! nora and charlie just have my whole heart and their story and arc was developed so well and i am OBSESSED with their banter and humor! they are just so playful and cute and snarky hehe i love them <3 it’s so common in romance to get the “opposites attract” trope (which i love, don’t get me wrong) but it was EVERYTHING to see how nora and charlie were so so similar and how they knew each other so well and fit together so perfectly.
i love an “ice queen” character and i just see so much of myself in nora and her eldest sister angst (me and nora when eldest sister by taylor drops) and her need for control and her love for lists and literally everything about her!!! she deserves the whole world and i loved watching her character growth because it was done so well!
and charlie AHH one of the loves of my life!!! his angst and backstory was also a lot but i loved seeing how nora and him balanced each other out even though they were so alike. him being absolutely obsessed with nora’s snark and edge and how cutthroat she is and the way he loves her for everything she is GAHHH they are just the perfect match and i love them sm
and finally, the overarching theme of love and how it expands and adapts as time goes on was so so good!! maybe this is the older sister in me but there were definitely some times that nora’s sister annoyed me a little but i truly loved their bond and love for each other and how they ended up keeping that while still living the lives they each wanted to. i LOVED that nora doesn’t stay in sunshine falls and i’m not going to lie, the ending scene always makes me tear up when charlie shows up because it was just SO GOOD AHH!!!!
anywayyy this got a little ramble-y but moral of the story is that i adore this book with my whole heart and it’s one of my emily henry favorites. also this is a longer than usual annotation dump since i ended up annotating wayyy more than i was going to because there are just so many scenes i love in this one.
