Original Book Review
mrs. dalloway is really just a story about one day in the life of clarissa dalloway but somehow it turns into something way bigger. the characters like septimus and peter have all these thoughts and feelings spinning in their heads and it ends up feeling way deeper than it looks at first.
the writing has this poetic feel and an intense way of showing what people are going through inside. even when nothing major is happening it still feels like something heavy is sitting just under the surface. the setting isn’t anything dramatic but somehow it still feels full of meaning.
it wasn’t the easiest book to get through, and sometimes it felt like a slow read that went on forever. some parts made me pay extra attention, but it still left something to learn
the book really gets how strange life can be. someone’s out in the sun planning a party while someone else is quietly falling apart. people are messy. feelings are complicated. relationships are never just one thing. also i just found out this book is full of symbols like trees and stuff (thanks to course hero, hehehe)
this was my 4th buddy read with @madhu_reads and by the end we both felt like yeah it really is just about one snobby woman but there’s something oddly fascinating about it.
