“Nothing Lasts forever……that’s why you should grab onto whatever makes you happy now and hold on for as long as you can. Life is short.”
One Golden Summer
Charlie and Alice’s story is the summer romance we didn’t know we needed of 2025.
Alice and Charlie are so different yet so similar. The respect and love they hold for each other felt so adult and refreshing in this summer romance.
Alice surprised me as a main character and I found myself relating to her in many ways with how she feels so deeply about everything and will always put others before herself. Charlie shows her that she needs to be a bit selfish sometimes to have her own happiness. As someone who likes to be in control like Alice, she also thrives on change and adventure. Having someone like Charlie to ignite that spark is just what she needs.
Alice showed Charlie it’s okay to be vulnerable and let go of the past I order to be present and move forward. I was so happy to see how much he had grown as a character since ‘Every Last Summer.’ He is an example of what healthy masculinity looks like.
Carley Fortune’s writing gets better with every book. The intimacy and reflection of life and relationships in this story is beautiful.
This is the perfect summer romance to read by the lake on a warm, quiet evening.
